Everything you write is private by default. You choose, entry by entry, whether anything ever leaves your account.
Public diaries
If you want to share, first enable public diaries under Settings → Privacy ("What people see"). Then, when writing, tick Share as a public diary. chapture shows a warning before a diary goes public so the choice is always deliberate — you can even set it to remember your choice after a short pause. Turning sharing back off is instant.
Zero-knowledge encryption
For your most sensitive writing, turn on per-diary encryption. The diary is sealed on your device with a passphrase only you know, before it's saved, so no one — not even chapture — can read it.
Keep your passphrase and recovery code safe. Because the key never leaves your device, we can't reset the passphrase or recover the diary. Lose both and the entry is unreadable forever. Encrypted diaries are always private and can't be shared. For the full model, see the Security page.
